MBDS/ Sheet Masks Tips && Tricks

This post is going to be on getting the most out of your sheet masks and My Beauty Diaries. It's going to focus on storage and how to get the most excess serum for your neck, chest and arm areas =] I suggest watching the video, because it's not that long (under 4 minutes) and I can physically show you what I mean.

Storage:
If you buy masks in stores, they’re almost always stored upright. This is a problem because the excess/”loose” serum/ essence in the mask tends to settle towards the bottom half of the packet which is usually the nose & cheek area, meaning your chin and forehead will dry faster.

To fix this, you should always flip the box upside down for a night or two before using, that way some of the serum/ essence in the mask comes back “down” towards the chin and forehead.

From then on you whether they may be in their original boxes, shoe box or drawer, masks should be stored flat/ horizontal and flipped weekly/ bi- weekly. This way the serum/ essence in the mask will never settle on one side more then the other, resulting in an evenly moist mask.

If you’ve purchased masks online, you don’t know how it’s stored in the warehouse, because they don’t care about aesthetic appeal as long as everything fits. When your masks arrive, use one from the box, try to see what part of the mask dries faster and flip the box towards that direction for a night or two. From then on, store horizontally, flipping weekly/ bi-weekly.

Getting the most Excess Serum/ Essence for your MBDs:

After removing the plastic backing to your sheet mask, DON’T throw it away!!! Put it aside while you apply the sheet mask, afterwards wipe off all the excess serum/ essence off the backing and apply it to the desired areas. If you usually throw the backing away, you’ll be surprised with the amount of leftover serum on the plastic backing.

If you have tips and tricks on storing and getting the most out of your masks, please share!!!

Difference Between New && Old My Beauty Diary Masks

Before I start on My Beauty Diary Masks reviews, I thought I'd show some comparisons between the old and new MBDs. Which was something I was curious about when I first researched and started using them.

The 2 boxes of masks I'm comparing today have been manufactured on different dates, unfortunately I'm not exactly sure when the masks were changed in packaging and thickness.

Japanese Cherry Blossom : 2009. 11. 25 - 2012. 11. 25
Black Pearl: 2010. 07. 28 - 2013. 07. 28

MBDs have a shelf life of 3 years

EDIT: 03/23/2011
I forgot to mention, on the new boxes the little mask on the front under the "flavor/ scent" is filled in with shiny gold, where as the old ones only have the outline...

Right Side View
not a significant difference, cherry blossom outline only/ black pearl two-toned, colored in
Left Side View
black pearl: company info on the side instead of back, has extra design detail, where as cherry blossom is solid color block
Back View
obvious difference in layout, graphics in BP

Personally I prefer the back of the new boxes more because the words are not as cramped, more "professional"looking and it's more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Cherry Blossom : www.ppc-life.com.tw (company website)
Black Pearl : www.beautydiary.com.tw/en/aboutus.htm (line website)
Mask Pack Front:
the black pearl is 1/16" bigger at the top, but same size other then that
Mask Pack Back:
more info regarding mask on BP, I like this better because the user can recycle the box and still know info on the mask
old mask (japanese cherry blossom) thick, less flexible
new mask (Black Pearl), WAY thinner, more serum, more flexibility in fit

I will have one more post on MBD and it's tips to get the most out of your MBDs~
then I'll get on to the reviews =]

I got the two nail polishes for $3.99 each, from the reject bin!!! I'm not sure why they were there in the first place... since they were in good condition, purchased from Toronto Beauty Supply Shop?(it's one block from eaton centre... I'll find the full name the next time I go, it was the first time I've ever gone in, even though I've walked past it a million times before)

Prize from a TDHally's giveaway
this isn't part of the haul, but i met up with her on the same day so TADA!!!

This was my first time winning a giveaway and actually receiving the prize so it was REALLY exciting. There was actually a little mix-up when she announced the winners because there was another "Steph" that contacted her saying she was the winner and she didn't check so she sent her the prize, then when I contacted her she realized it was the wrong Steph, but she gave me a prize nonetheless! So nice... I've also purchased items from her facebook shop The Doll House Shop before and had a really good experience, great customer service!!!

The next couple items were all from Beauty Star~
(when shopping at pmall/ pacific mall you have to be careful when you're buying products because some places sell fake stuff)

- My Beauty Diary Masks - Black Pearl, White Bulgarian Rose, Japanese Cherry Blossom
 $13 a box -  3 for $30
- Skin79 Diamond Collection Prestige BB cream [$22 - $30]
Beauty Star carries a wide variety of asian products and offer them at a decent price point (NO TAX =D) && the last couple times I've gone, they've always had specials!!!

- CO Bigelow Green Tea Body Cleanser [50% off $7]
- CO Bigelow Triple Hot Chocolate Lip Shine [ 75% off $2ish]
