Triumph Inspiration Award Entry - In Their Arms

Earlier this year, I joined my first fashion design competition, the Triumph Inspiration Award Berlin 2011. The theme was "125 Years of Celebrating Women" focusing on the maternal side of women, this piece was created.

It's called "In Their Arms"... inspired by the maternal side of women, birds were the perfect symbol to represent motherhood. Using the feathered wings of a bird, warm and protective, coming out from the swell of a woman's back, they tenderly cup the wearer's bosom and sex, much like the arms of a lover.

It's a one piece design with a underwire bra. The feathers used were from a variety of birds, and were sewn on one by one.

I'm generally happy with this piece, even though I didn't place. If I were to re-do it, I would probably add more structure to the back, so it actually looks like the wings grew from the woman's back. Secondly I would get more shades of brown, to get more dimension in the feathers. (you can actually see it in person, but not in pictures, that's why it has to be changed) Lastly I want to minimize the number of straps seen in the back, maybe change the base color to a nude or see through.

Advance Screening: Something Borrowed - review && experience

Last night (wed) I went to see the advance screening of Something Borrowed, thanks to the ravishing *wink* Lisamarie of BeautyCrazed!!! She got to interview one of the actors, Colin Egglesfield the next day!!! (read here

Beauty Crazed is a blog that introduces the latest releases from high end to drug store brands. Although I love how it keeps me updated on all the newest products, my favorite posts of the blog is whenever Lisamarie is more personal. (does that make sense? lol) I find her very funny and the post (linked above) is a lovely example of her being both informative and humorous =]

full ticket, that was to be exchanged at the box office for 2 admittance tickets =]

(I forgot to take a picture of the other side -_-', but it was the Warner Brothers logo and security warnings)

Close up

&& yes one of the main actors Colin Egglesfield, who played Dex in the film came to the screening!!! but I wish John Krasinski came instead =p hehe <3 him

I've never gone to an advance screening before, so I was kinda confused as to what it was. At first I thought it was just seeing the movie before it officially premieres, (for those that don't want to hear me ramble on how stupid I was, that's exactly what it is lol) but then I read that the lead actor was going to show up and the crazy security rules. So my imagination took a turn, and I was thinking maybe we have dress up a little, for a moment I thought about cocktail wear. But it was at a regular movie theatre so I wore an outfit that was a little more casual. Then the whole security warning they had on the ticket, it sounded so intense, like I was gonna get strip searched and stuff. But none of that happened, they just made sure we had the correct tickets, and there were people monitoring us while we were watching the film.

Tip: If you're invited to an advance screening, start lining up 45mins - 1hr before the movie starts ^^

After the movie, Colin shows up again to answer a few questions.

Overall, it was a very nice experience, and I learned that an advance screening is just seeing the movie earlier lol and nothing crazy. The movie itself was quite enjoyable, very funny, it was almost the perfect chick flick, except I didn't cry. There were scenes where I had tears welled up ready to fall, but the scene changed so quickly they didn't get to. I do recommend seeing this movie, the trailer doesn't do it justice and if you decide to watch it, I hope you like it as much as I did!!!

Purolator, Dalton && Boogers

Warning: the first paragraph is very rambly lol

So my little "review/ experience" with Purolator... (this is all last week) my package was sent out on Tuesday and was set to arrive on Wednesday, unfortunately I was not home, thus the pick up notice. Because the location for pick-up was REALLY far from where I lived, I called customer service and re-scheduled another delivery for Friday. It came on Thursday, I wasn't home, so again the pick up notice, which was quite annoying because I scheduled for Friday not Thursday, because I knew I would be home then and Purolator only does 2 deliveries (which is fair, if one is missed the other is scheduled...) So once again customer service once again (really friendly btw) the lady told me it was noted in the confirmation # note and the package will arrive on Friday, just call 8 AM Friday morning to confirm delivery. Which I thought was a little weird and unhappy about because I had a late class and I didn't want to wake up early (I know I'm lazy lol) so I call at 8 and the rep tells me I should have gotten a new confirmation # and my package was not coming today, but gave me a new confirmation # because it was their fault and said it'll come on Monday. So I go on twitter to rant, within minutes Purolator from twitter replies my tweet in case I need further assistance, which I was quite impressed by =D

In short, Purolator has pretty good customer service, it would have been excellent if I didn't have to call a third time~ And their twitter tweeter was very nice~

@ This is Jeremie. Need help with a shipment? You can send details to customer.care@purolator.com

@ OK. Let us know if there's anything we need to follow up on.

My package came this Monday, I won a giveaway from Beauty Crazed (yippeeee), a lip gloss set from Dalton (brand I've never heard before, but it was nicely packaged) It came with a letter from The Shopping Channel PR congratulating me on winning and also a $20 "gift card/ code", if I'm not mistaken Lisamarie one of the writers for Beauty Crazed happens to work at The Shopping Channel.

The colors I was most excited about were the 2 on the left, especially the top left one (Janie), I don't own any colors that dark!!! Can't wait to use them more and review them =]

Sorry for not updating lately, school has been super busy, and it'll continue to be for the next 2 weeks or so, but after that it's SUMMER =D YAY lol so I'll post more then...

anyways Bubbi/ Lindy of Bubzbeauty held a contest awhile back, I started to film my commercial entry but never finished but here are some pictures lol =]

Difference Between New && Old My Beauty Diary Masks

Before I start on My Beauty Diary Masks reviews, I thought I'd show some comparisons between the old and new MBDs. Which was something I was curious about when I first researched and started using them.

The 2 boxes of masks I'm comparing today have been manufactured on different dates, unfortunately I'm not exactly sure when the masks were changed in packaging and thickness.

Japanese Cherry Blossom : 2009. 11. 25 - 2012. 11. 25
Black Pearl: 2010. 07. 28 - 2013. 07. 28

MBDs have a shelf life of 3 years

EDIT: 03/23/2011
I forgot to mention, on the new boxes the little mask on the front under the "flavor/ scent" is filled in with shiny gold, where as the old ones only have the outline...

Right Side View
not a significant difference, cherry blossom outline only/ black pearl two-toned, colored in
Left Side View
black pearl: company info on the side instead of back, has extra design detail, where as cherry blossom is solid color block
Back View
obvious difference in layout, graphics in BP

Personally I prefer the back of the new boxes more because the words are not as cramped, more "professional"looking and it's more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.

Cherry Blossom : www.ppc-life.com.tw (company website)
Black Pearl : www.beautydiary.com.tw/en/aboutus.htm (line website)
Mask Pack Front:
the black pearl is 1/16" bigger at the top, but same size other then that
Mask Pack Back:
more info regarding mask on BP, I like this better because the user can recycle the box and still know info on the mask
old mask (japanese cherry blossom) thick, less flexible
new mask (Black Pearl), WAY thinner, more serum, more flexibility in fit

I will have one more post on MBD and it's tips to get the most out of your MBDs~
then I'll get on to the reviews =]
