DRAMA REVIEW: Full House Take 2

source: Drama Fever

Drama: Full House Take 2

No. of Episodes: 16
(but they air as 30mins episodes each so there's a total of 32)

Watch On: DRAMA FEVER

DramaFever is the only place I watch dramas online. The quality is good and there's english subtitles. (If you're a premium member there's also a HD option) They're partnered with many broadcasting companies, so you don't have to worry about a drama getting removed after watching it half way. This is starting to sound like an ad... but I swear it's not, I just really like DramaFever, for their korean drama/ variety show choices.

Genre: Romantic Comedy

Type: Korean Drama

Summary from DramaFever
The long-awaited sequel to Full House it's no-holds-barred in this second series about modern and unconventional romance. Feisty hapkido teacher Jang Man Ok fights her way to become the stylist of TAKE ONE, a popular idol group. Pretty boys Lee Tae Ik and Won Kang Hwi comprise the group, and although they have vastly different personalities, they both take a liking to Man Ok. What follows is a steamy, polyamorous love triangle. Man Ok is living the fantasy: dating an entire idol group at once!

Cast:
Hwang Jung Eum as Jang Man Ok
No Min Woo as Lee Tae Ik
Park Ki Woong as Won Kang Hwi
Yoo Seol Ah as Jin Se Ryung

My Thoughts:
Initially I was very turned off by the idea of a "sequel" to the original Full House with Rain and Song Hye Gyo. I didn't understand why they would want to set themselves for failure by trying to mimic the original. Boy was I wrong, first of all it wasn't really a sequel in the sense it's not a "before/ after" of the original. Secondly it only takes the house aspect from the original 'Full House' and combines it with the behind the scenes of an idol's life from 'You're Beautiful' making it a light, fluffy and slightly suspenseful filler drama.

(Filler Drama: a light drama you watch between "earth shattering life changing ones" i.e ones that make you bawl your eyes out)

Starting with the actors/actresses, they were the reason why I even gave the drama a chance, and I'm very glad I did. Hwang Jung Eum has always been one of my favorite kpop people, ever since 'Love Letter' (almost a decade old korean variety show) and more "recently" I absolutely adored her and Daniel Choi couple in 'Highkick Through the Roof'. As for No Min Woo, he was in 'My Girlfriend's a Nine Tail Fox' one of my favorite dramas ever. Although his acting was a little weak in that drama, he showed potential had it been a more elaborate role.

In Full House Take 2, I feel like all the main actors and actresses played their roles well, it was just the supporting actors that were over dramatic and a little excessive at times. As for the plot it's a little predictable, but considering how each episode is only half an hour long and they update four times a week (2 episodes per week) and still managed to keep some of the suspense for me... I was pretty impressed. I actually waited for the updates, which is very rare for someone with little to no patience.

Overall the drama was very sweet and funny. Although I have to admit sometimes they pushed the ageyo bit, too much. Ki Woong's character Won Kang Hwi at times, had enough ageyo to rival a six year old. But some might say the same about Jung Eum, really boils down to ageyo tolerance haha. But it was a very enjoyable drama and I definitely recommend it!

Ratings:
Filler Drama: 4/5 stars
In my opinion I do consider this a filler drama, so the over dramatized acting from the supporting roles and the predictability could be ignored. I definitely recommend this drama as is... a FILLER drama, so the standards in judging is lighter and not to be taken as serious.

Regular Drama: 2/5
As a regular drama it lacks a lot of substance that's needed to keep the viewer interested for an extended period of time. (30 minutes 4 days a week) It had potential, but I think with it's lighter more playful approach, the storyline and actor choice suits it.

DRAMA REVIEW: Rooftop Prince

(source: Drama Fever)

Drama: Rooftop Prince

No. of Episodes: 20

Watch On: DRAMA FEVER
I LOVE watching dramas on this site, it's good quality and there's english subtitles. They also have licensing rights from the companies so you don't have to worry about watching a drama half way then having it removed because of copyrights. It’s the only place I stream dramas now!
Network: SBS - 2012
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Type: Korean Drama
 CAST: 4/5
Micky Yoo Chun as Lee Gak/ Yong Tae Yong
Han Ji Min as Park Ha
Lee Tae Sung as Yong Tae Moo
Jung Yoo Mi as Hong Se Na
They did a really good job casting the main characters, but the main supporting ones... I’m iffy about. That’s actors Lee Tae Sung and Jung Yoo Mi. To be completely fair Lee Tae Sung annoyed me in Playful Kiss, his character and over exaggerated accent was painful to watch, so I had a little bit of prejudice towards him. Even in this drama, his character and acting was over-dramatic most of the time, especially in the last couple scenes -sigh- As for Yoo Mi, meh.
I was blown away by Yoo Chun’s acting since the first episode. I kinda expected it to be good, since I heard good things, and he had main roles drama after drama. But I was still worried he might be like Teacyeon from 2PM who also had a few roles one after another, but his acting is kinda cringe worthy at times. The actors that played Yoo Chun’s servants from the Joseon era were also worth mentioning, they played their roles beautifully.
Plot: 4/5
I like the plot as a whole, but when it’s broken down some parts/ scenes don’t really make sense. For example Park Ha’s friends that live a floor below hers, when the drama started it seemed like they would be a constant in her/ their lives...but all of the sudden they’re never heard from again. It’s minor things like this that takes away from the plot, ironically you don’t notice this when watching, only after it’s done.
Summary from DramaFever
A prince from the Joseon era (Micky Yoochun) travels to present-day Seoul with a special team he put together (Lee Min Ho, Jung Suk Won, and Choi Woo Shik) in order to solve the mysterious death of the woman he loved (Jung Yoo Mi). To his surprise, when he arrives, he meets a woman that looks exactly like her. However, it's not only the princess who has a modern-day doppelganger, but everyone including the prince himself.”

Fashion: 4/5
There’s not much to say... other then it worked. Nothing major worth mentioning or complaints.
Cry Meter: 3/5
I didn’t cry a lot in this drama, there were a couple scenes but it wasn’t like I bawled my eyes out or anything. Like some scenes I was totally on board with the characters, but for the most part my emotions weren’t completely attached.

My Thoughts:
Overall, I really enjoyed this drama, a lot of times I get bored in the middle but this was very interesting and I had no problem watching it immediately after each update. I feel like I could have been attached to this drama emotionally if not for Lee Tae Sung’s acting haha, it sounds bad but true. I hope he gets less annoying roles in the future, and tones down his acting so I can see him in a new light.
Overall: 4/5
Recommend: Yes, I do recommend it, it’s definitely worth watching. Don’t let my Lee Tae Sung rants prevent you from watching, it’s a good drama really.

update: Sorry for being MIA so long, I will try to update more often. Expect more drama reviews coming up, I've been so addicted lately because I found a drama buddy to spaz with. Don't worry there will also be beauty reviews/ posts here and there.
